40th Reunion Photos Scrapbook

KAUAI - Saturday

60 of us gathered on Kauai the week before the reunion.

20 optional group activities were planned for the pre-Reunion week on Kauai from our arrival Saturday June 5th to our departure Thursday June 10th.

Photos of our Kauai reunion have been organized by each day. We start here with our convergence at San Francisco International Airport Saturday June 5th. Enjoy"

Arrival in Honolulu

The gang is thrilled to be back in Hawaii again.

The gang is greeted in Honolulu by Reunion committee members with leis.

Doug presents Jon with a surprise gift from the Kauai gang.

More of the Mainland gang poses in Honolulu before the flight departure to Kauai

Jon is overwhelmed by his surprise gift from the Kauai gang, two gorgeous Aloha Palaka shirts, the first of much gift giving during the week. The gang shares in Jon's delight at his surprise gifts.

Karen models her surprise beautiful pink coral necklace gift from the Kauai gang along with the lei the Mainland gang all received at the airport in Honolulu upon arrival from San Francisco enroute to Kauai. Karen sends you guys her "special mahalo with hugs and kisses".

Aloha Airlines flight to Kauai

After a short InterIsland flight, the gang arrives in Lihue and is welcomed by classmates who had arrived a day early to start preparations for the big week on Kauai.

Don greets Jon and the gang.

Ellen flew in via Australia to greet Margot and the rest of us .

Jan and Anne watch the luggage as Fred and Doug pick up the rental cars and we are all on our way. Parking and getting the car seem to be "guy jobs", and probably always will be.

44 of us check in at the Kauai Aston Beachboy in Kapaa Saturday night. Thanks to Andre's generosity, the $30 per room rate double occupancy is hard to beat.

Keith checks out the view from his second floor ocean view room at the Beachboy.

The swimming pool at the Beachboy.

Carolyn and Valerie check into the BeachBoy, amazed that they had left Arkansas early that same morning where it is now 11pm at night.

16 others continue on to the two beach houses in Haena on northern Kauai, Hale Makua and Makua Ma Ke Kai, and Avery beach house in Hanalei nearby.

Karen checks out Dee Dee's digs on the beach in Hanalei with Susan (Punahou '57). Note the pier in the far right background which was made famous in the movie "South Pacific".

The beach in front of our Hanalei beach house and the view out the back of the beach house towards the mountains with waterfalls running year round. No wonder they call this Bali Hai.

Dee Dee enjoys a late afternoon dip in the warm clear waters of Hanalei Bay.

The rest of us arrive at our two beach houses in Haena.

Here is Makua Ma Ke Kai looking back at Hale Makua, joined by 7 acres of grass and private beach access.

So after an exciting day of traveling from all parts of the U.S. including Massachusetts, Tennessee, Arkansas, Washington, Idaho, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Jersey, Virginia and California, plus Honolulu and the Big Island, 60 of us arrive safely on Kauai and settle in for a good night's sleep to be fresh and ready to start our 40th Reunion week together.
