Interfaith Picnic Sunday
The Gathering of Health and School Kits for the Children of Iraq
August 31, 2003
Three Bay Area gathering places: San Francisco, Burlingame, and Walnut Creek
Three Interfaith Community Picnics, on Sunday, August 31, 2003, will allow people of many faiths to meet and celebrate a compassionate and faithful response to the critical needs of Iraq’s children. Individuals, families, organizations, and faith communities are invited to assemble and bring "Gift of the Heart" Health Kits and School Kits to the community picnic of their choice. (Volunteers at the picnics will collect the CWS Health and School Kits for shipment to Iraq by Church World Service, an ecumenical humanitarian organization working in Iraq with the Iraqi Red Crescent, the Islamic Relief Agency, UNICEF, and the Middle East Council of Churches to deliver aid where the need is greatest.)
San Francisco Interfaith Picnic – Sunday, August 31, 2003, 11 AM – 3 PM
Chapel at the Presidio, 130 Fisher Loop, San Francisco
Bring a picnic lunch for your family and School and Health Kits for the children of Iraq. Music and other special presentations will be shared by Bay Area artists and community leaders who’ve recently returned from Iraq. Awards for the Student Essay Contest winners will be presented. Burlingame Interfaith Picnic – Sunday, August 31, 2003, Noon – 3 PM
Washington Park in Burlingame, at the corner of Carolan Ave. and Burlingame Ave. behind the CalTrans Station and next to the tennis courts.
Bring a picnic lunch for your family and School and Health Kits for the children of Iraq. Music and other special presentations will be made by Bay Area artists and leaders who’ve recently returned from Iraq.
