The Iliahi Foundation of Hawai'i

Partnerships with the Community

Discussions with the following organizations have proposed creating special relationships to create synergies within the general community which support the Hawaiian native plants programs of the Iliahi Foundation of Hawaii.

Our ability to execute these activities will depend greatly upon our success in receiving additional volunteer and financial support from our current supporters and from other new volunteers, private individual donations, and foundation grants.  Each program will be the subject of a specific grant request.  Each program and partnership will be further developed as funding and resources become available.

Over time, additional similar partnerships will be developed as resources allow.

The Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) is a hands-on summer learning experience aimed at educating Hawaii's youth on the many conservation issues that threaten Hawaii's unique environment. Students are mentored by and work alongside some of Hawaii's premiere conservation leaders while building friendships with other students who desire to protect and restore our paradise. Members are also challenged to develop leadership and teamwork skills. Participants work in rarely visited, breathtaking habitats. HYCC is more than just out of the ordinary"; it's a chance of a lifetime!

The opportunity here for the Iliahi Foundation of Hawaii  is to have HYCC partners including Kamehameha School, Hawaii DLNR, US Fish and Wildlife, and PonoPacific LLC provide us with young men and women interested in learning about eco-restoration and land management conservation to work with IF as a  program(s) sponsor to complete work projects related to our objectives including:.

- plants growing at Palehua nurseries

- feral ungulate control

- clearing and brush control

- out-planting and tending at Honouliuli and Nanakuli and other locations on Oahu

Pono Pacific Land Management, LLC! is an ecological restoration and natural resource management company based in Hawaii. Their goal is to service Hawaii and the Pacific region with conservation services that are cost effective, efficient, trust worthy, and compassionate for both the environment and the people. We anticipate working with Pono Pacific Land Management as the manager of the  HYCC Hawaii Young Conservation Corps to set up and manage Iliahi Foundation eco-restoration projects on Oahu.
